about

Blinding sun scorches bleached bones strewn upon parched, cracked earth. The beast, bristling, kicking up dust and grit, emerges from the underbrush into the brilliant light of day. Teeth bared, eyes wide with hunger, devouring a vertical history written in strata millennia in the making.

The first of several potential stories written for the long dead, “Archaeotherium [EP]” is the second musical item created and released by A Virtual Memory. Conceived from March to April of 2017, it is comprised of reassembled pieces taken from the televised 1999 Fragility v1.0 special of Nine Inch Nails’ 12.01.99 performance at London’s Brixton Academy.

Made in Audacity, each song is reconstructed solely from elements found in its original counterpart with absolutely no added external features of any kind. These elements are primarily comprised of the improvisational piano snippets performed specifically for the broadcast before and after each song though a few brief segments of the actual live recordings are also used.
